I watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1kbayAdlgg and cried. It made me sick to my stomach. I began to pray for orphans in general.
Through this blog, http://theblessingofverity.com/ , I learned VAST amounts concerning the plight of orphans. Through Susanna's writings about their journey to adopt Katerina, their family and their precious little Verity, my heart has been burdened.
There are many other blogs written by moms of families that have adopted special needs children that I read almost daily. I also visit http://reecesrainbow.org and pray for many of the children listed. I rejoice when they make it to the "My Family Found Me" page. I have learned a lot and have a burden to do more.
There is a group of folks that hold auctions to help support families adopting children out of a certain orphanage in Bulgaria. http://treasuresinhiddenplaces.blogspot.com/ . I have made a jar that we are filling with coins. We are planning to give that to a family when it is full. We are almost there and are so excited!
I wrote into Reeces Rainbow and requested to be the Prayer Warrior for as sweet looking boy in bad shape in a miserable place. I pray for Kramer daily. His sweet face wakes me at night. This is him:
Isn't he precious! He is tiny! Would you believe he is 8 years old. He is malnourished, because the orphanage he is in is awful. He has CP, he lays in a bed all day, all night. He needs a mommy and daddy, and I pray for them too.
Reeces Rainbow only has his file for a bit longer. It then gets sent back the the Bulgarian govt. labled "unwanted". That makes my chest hurt!
Pray with me please!
